If it is for anything other than very LOW power (microwatts), you're going to be disappointed.
It is essentially a beta emitter hooked to a capacitor via some electronics to handle voltage conversion. The thing is the beta source is use it or lose it, and very low power. If you scaled this up to power a Tesla, it would be a nightmare, as it would need to dissipate the full power the car requires, all the time, or it would melt down (aka Fukashima)
For me it was an aesthetic thing. The black modern look with metallic buttons it had was a departure from the beige that dominated computers of the time. Atari had a great design sensibility. The Atari 5200 was another great example of slick design for the time.
Video background removal, when hair is involved, is painful. Clearly this is not targeted at webcam footage. Anyone who has had to manually remove a background using a tool like Premiere or After Effects from pre-recorded video would see the benefit of this tool/api. It is pricey but i can see motion graphics studios using this regularly.
Here in Atlanta http://businessradiox.com/our-studios/ is doing it on a regional scale. They are very knowledgeable in the domain, and they are very active in the local start up scene.
