Let's see if this affects my setup. But maybe there are more tweaks i can do to cut costs if it rises to much. In the past i moved from a managed PostreSQL from fly.io to a self hosted version on a fly.io machine and it saved me around 30$ a month.
Really nice Project, I'm working with WebRTC my self and i struggled with different things that cause the problems mentioned in the comments.
For example Safari has some weird WebRTC quirks (getUserMedia/codec differences vs. Chrome) further more the stutters are often scaling problems and not because of the rendering.
And i have seen in my analytics for my App https://sharry.live that there are often connection problems because of restrictive network settings which can be handled by a TURN Server.
Is it really that easy to migrate to another DB Engine? I moved from managed PostgreSQL from fly.io to self-hosted PostgreSQL on a fly.io instance for my umami analytics, and it saved me $30 a month. But i haven't switched the Engine from MySQL to PostgreSQL.
I got the same problem with my posts and comments.
They were flagged, which was obvious for me after i activated the "showdead" option in my profile, or they got marked as "shadow-dead" and I only found out via the public JSON API.
"Shadow-Dead" means, for me, everything looked okay, but no one else saw my post.
After that, I asked an HN Mod what the problem was, and they thought my posts were created by GenAI, and because of that, they were flagged. And he gave me the advice that I don't use GenAI at all for HN, not even to polish my crappy text.
Wow this is a great idea and I wish my local climbing gym had something like that. Maybe it is a good idea to put a help section for every route and visualize this.
This is an awesome Idea, I would love to use it in the future but currently I don't have a team anymore and try my way as a solopreneur.
But I will have it on my radar and will see maybe in the future I need a tool like this.
Keep up the good work
Awesome I was wondering how and if I will see it here in western Germany. Have seen a solar eclipse in the 90s and I wonder if it will be the same experience. Many thanks for this tool.
You should see it from Germany but it'll only be a partial eclipse. If you're talking about the eclipse of the 11th August 1999, that one had the totality crossing Germany, so the upcoming one will be less spectacular I think.
I've also updated the website to add more info about German cities, hope it helps!
Hope it's useful. For what it's worth the variation within Germany is small: about 88% coverage in Cologne and Düsseldorf, 89% around Stuttgart, down to 85% in Berlin and Hamburg. So it isn't worth driving for a couple of points. The most important thing to check for will be cloud coverage at this point. Enjoy it.
I think I will stay at home and watch the partial eclipse from their.
But I think I need to go upstairs to my attic and watch it from a window up their.
