I'm not concerned about some kind of consciousness, but before machines were unable to recognize something else than a very specific type of data. Now machines can recognize faces, objects, even emotions. That attached to a program and the existence of "big data" can be even more dangerous, because human is dangerous.
I'm completely agree with you and many of the opinions posted here. Somehow I feel the same way but remember that deep inside all that "new" technology are the same, as many has pointed out here. Try to find a middle path between them.
