The worst experience I've had with people using their phones during a performance was during a Broadway musical. The lady a seat in front of me to the left thought it would be a good idea to text in the dark performance hall with her phone.
She was a beacon of distraction and a lot of audience members were missing key parts of the show and it led to much distress.
I'd rather people be responsible and do this act on their own instead of having to use a technology like this. I guess I'm of the idea that if we don't give the opportunity for people to be responsible then they will not develop the ability.
"On-Topic: Anything that good hackers would find interesting. That includes more than hacking and startups. If you had to reduce it to a sentence, the answer might be: anything that gratifies one's intellectual curiosity."
"Off-Topic: Most stories about politics, or crime, or sports, unless they're evidence of some interesting new phenomenon. Videos of pratfalls or disasters, or cute animal pictures. If they'd cover it on TV news, it's probably off-topic"
Does anyone feel that this might be stretching it?

After that thread a few days ago where everyone here thought that "62% of Americans Have Less than $1000 in savings" meant that 62% of Americans voluntarily forgo a savings account in favor of more lucrative investing techniques, no, I don't think this is stretching it. I think it's an enlightening and necessary reminder.
When tasers were introduced they were supposed to be used in situations where an officer would have instead used lethal force.
In the John Kerry "Don't tase me bro" incident. The officer thought he needed to use deadly force in that situation. He obviously didn't, but the point is that taser use in that situation would imply that he would have been okay using a firearm in that situation. Which is bs.
That was my immediate thought as well. Their choice of a scruffy looking guy (nothing wrong with it in and of itself) says a lot about their intended audience.
Hard to imagine Apple or Google marketing a product with that kind of imaging.
I don't have any problems with you being scruffy looking :), I'm just saying a lot of people do have a reaction to it, which is why most companies go out of their way to use clean cut people.
