>It does not survive any situation where the US does not help

History does not support this assertion. The Israelis are very determined and capable in self defence.

Israel fully depends on the US fighting their wars for them. It's not just the weapons and money we send, it's also cover in the UN and elsewhere, our media running Zionist propaganda and all of the wars we've fought on Israel's behalf. Let's put it to the test. No US support, only sanctions. Let's see how far they get.

You might not be aware but the super right wing Israeli's are basically all in favor of reducing Israel's reliance on the US because they feel this reliance puts too many restrictions on Israel since that support gives the US some ability to politically moderate Israel's actions.

> Let's put it to the test. No US support, only sanctions. Let's see how far they get.

This was basically the situation immediately after the founding of Israel when Israel was at its weakest. Israel was historically the most aggressive when it had the least amount of outside support.

You're avoiding the uncomfortable question. Engage with the reality of how dangerous nuclear armed state collapse is.

I'm not avoiding anything. The only country that has ever used nuclear bombs on a population is the US. Both the Soviet Union and South Africa had nuclear weapons and were successfully dissolved.

> I'm not avoiding anything.

You're avoiding answering how it's supposedly a good thing for the world for there to be a civil war and total collapse in Israel as you've claimed.

> The only country that has ever used nuclear bombs on a population is the US.

This is relevant how?

> Both the Soviet Union and South Africa had nuclear weapons and were successfully dissolved.

South Africa still exists as a state last I checked. The Soviet Union was an organized dissolution and Russia retained the Soviet nuclear arsenal while invading other states unprovoked. You've asserted that "Not only would it be good for the Middle East, it would be good for the entire planet." in regards to Civil War and Total Collapse in Israel, do you actually believe this to be the case? I suspect you actually don't because when asked you are unable to say how that would be a good thing for the world.

It's always a good thing when a terrorist, genocidal country goes away. Israel is worse than Nazi Germany as it's lasted longer and has much deeper influence on the rest of the world. We'll all be better off when it's gone. No more pedophile blackmail, no more political bribes, no more stealing my tax dollars, no more manipulating my media, no more removing my rights and most importantly no more genocide of Palestinians!

> It's always a good thing when a terrorist, genocidal country goes away. Israel is worse than Nazi Germany as it's lasted longer and has much deeper influence on the rest of the world. We'll all be better off when it's gone.

Your claim was "Not only would it be good for the Middle East, it would be good for the entire planet." in regards to Civil War and Total Collapse in Israel, which is very different that claiming it would be a good thing if Israel simply magically "goes away". Civil War and Total Collapse would have a lot of additional negative implications inherently attached.

> No more pedophile blackmail, no more political bribes, no more stealing my tax dollars, no more manipulating my media, no more removing my rights and most importantly no more genocide of Palestinians!

I don't see how Civil War and Total Collapse would be good for the Palestinians or the region in general even if what you were claiming were true.

If this really is the plan on the left to fix climate change I'm not surprised the zeitgeist seems to be "rapid technology advancement or we're fucked".

The FUD about climate change is wayyyy to large and the advantages of cheating too great for advanced economies to all decide to co-operate and deindustrialise and return most of their citizens to some version of agrarian living.

I'm going to play devils advocate here.

Wouldn't the Trump right say they were a counter reaction to the radicalisation of the establishment left? Saying men are women, racial hiring quotas, record levels of immigration while respectable low to middle income manufacturing jobs offshored to China, the gleeful forcasting of America's "founding population/dominant culture" becoming a minority.

I've seen an uptick online of russian proxies informing the EU nations their supreme national interest is in cheap energy, and nevermind funding a 1900s conquest on their doorstep.

Thankfully, the Europeans aren't stupid.

A fresh account just for me? I'm flattered.

China doesn't get natural gas any cheaper from the European cutoff because of the way the infrastructure is organised and China is not going to unilateraly pay for the Power of Siberia 2 pipeline like Russia needs, because Russia is too likely to collapse in the near future.

Since we can't wind the clock back 8 decades and Israel exists now and has Hamas as neighbour we actually need to engage with the reality. Instead of tacitly arguing that the nuclear armed state established because it's citizens were persecuted for centuries needs to dissolve itself and go back to Europe. Also over half the Jews in Israel are from the Middle East.

Do you think both sides should accept (and we in the West aggressively incentivise) a two state deal and get on with it, or do you think the Palestinians should fight on to get the whole of Palestine back?

We actually can wind the clock back 8 decades. I think you’ll find a lot of support for this inevitability in the US. I support a single Palestinian state.

Do you see how you’re arguing based on “centuries of persecution” (not by the Palestinians) but the Palestinians aren’t even offered 80 years of consideration? This blatant and illogical framing is what is being rejected by post-internet generations.

Why this arbitrary timeframe of “8 decades”? Why not 6 (to Jordanian and Egyotian control of West Bank and Gaza) or 9 (to British control) or 11 (Ottoman - Turkish - control) or 300 (Jewish control)?

It’s not arbitrary at all, that’s when Israel was created via ethnic cleansing.

Israel was NOT created through ethnic cleansing. It was a declared a state first, and only then attacked by the Arabs in Palestine and around it, which led to whatever narrative of history you wish to accept. But at the time of the Nakba Israel was already a done deal, legally speaking.

Now, one must ask what would have happened to the Jews in Palestine had they lost that war...

The right to resist is not the right to commit deliberate civilian massacres.

If October 7 had been directed against the West Bank settlers then we could get behind it, but instead it was just Hamas expressing their genocidal intent.

Firstly, you are aware that Gaza is & was under full blockade, right? And that there is no way to reach the West Bank from Gaza?

Secondly, I can assure you that you would NOT have gotten behind anything Hamas did. You (not you specifically, just generally) wouldn’t have supported them because you’re conditioned to not support them. You are also more susceptible to propaganda than you think you are, and trust me, the media machine would have been in full gear regardless of what operation Hamas pulled off.

It is easy to talk about theoreticals, but if you’re missing the ongoing reality, why do you think that you would handle the theoretical scenario any differently? Same idea applies to fiction. People jump to oppose the Empire, but had they been living in the Star Wars universe, odds are that Imperial propaganda would have been extremely effective.

There is a recent saying on liberals, but I think it applies more broadly: “A liberal is someone who opposes every war except the current war, and supports all civil rights movements except the one that's going on right now.”

Occupying forces are not civilians, that being said October 7th was primarily directed at the IDF. That Israel has mandatory conscription and deliberately inhabits stolen Palestinian land doesn't make the victims civilian. That's not even touching on the large number of people in Israel killed by the IDF under the Hannibal Directive. Deaths incorrectly attributed to Hamas:

How comfortable are you sending a copy of every AI session transcript you generate to: 1) Me 2) The Chinese government 3) The US government

Being Danish I'd probably rate it China > you > US. Realistically though, I'm probably sending everything to everyone except for you.

I rate the US last because the US government shares information with European governments, so it's the most likely to affect me. I wrote this next to my dishwasher though, and if it's anything like those LG tv's it probably identified what I wrote from the keystroke sounds or something.

I live in China, they already have everything, especially when using appl products. It is basically mandatory here since privacy is a completely different concept here (not sure its even a concept here tbh. Although there are some privacy laws)

Totally.

Why the fuck would I care? The spooks definitely won't. I'm one person on a planet of 8 billion.

I think people don't appreciate the scale of that. A person is like a pixel on a 4k screen, in a wall that's made of many screens (about 5 in case of my country, about 42 in case of the US). Nobody cares what the single pixel does. It's not even visible unless it's so broken it doesn't change the same way surrounding pixels do.

I have a feeling that all this privacy obsession is actually a reaction to the unconscious feeling of irrelevance at this scale. In their minds, people defy the fact they're just sand for the systems of modern civilization - no, they are the very special ones, each fancies themselves a player among billions of NPCs, and to prove their uniqueness and specialness, they want to hide that fact from other NPCs, and get annoyed at the notion the world may indeed discover they are special.

Nothing else makes sense. Not in the west at least, where the only realistic threat from loss of privacy is getting weirder ads (hint: a real power move is to start with ad blocking and removing ads - and ad-infested media sources - from your life).

Now, loss of control over your daily life and your computing devices, that's another story. But most people don't seem to care about those.

You're talking about privacy from governments, which I agree os an overblown concern unless you're some sort of political activist/dissident.

However, privacy from mega corpos is an entirely different matter, because they CARE about you(r data) and rather than a pixel, you're a fully fleshed out record in their gigantic databases and they use this data to profit off of you, in multiple ways that all can be described as "scamming you out of money" by way 0f perfecting the art of selling you shit you don't need.

And then you have the wannabes, mid-sized corpos with security postures so poor every hacker and their grandmother has your data, for the sole purpose of scamming your own grandmother.

I've read here in previous years about bans propagating to other accounts. I think that if Google can associate you with other accounts that they're not above banning those too.

The section on Syria checks out though.

Most of the stuff in there was true, but the thing is, it was their problem and not ours. And when ISIS became our problem, Israel said it's not their problem.
