Yeah, I can imagine it being a problem if it was from different IP addresses, but surely putting a limit on requests from a single IP would be a straightforward fix? Although maybe until it happens, you don't think about it.
Most of the federal government predates the current administration. They really do want to follow the law. It's their job, not an ideology.
ICE is the President's personal force, screened for their loyalty to him. They have no interest in the law. The rest of the government doesn't like them any better than you do.
Voting data says there are large portions of the population loyal to Trump with no interest in the law, and even larger portions in the law enforcement agencies. If I was working in those departments, I would assume at least 2/3 (the portion of the general population fine with Trump's behavior) is not going to be on my side.
Its funny how nobody was making this argument when it was Obama ignoring international law to launch drone strikes on weddings and 18 yr old American citizens.
I know leftists were criticizing Obama for drone strikes. If the Republicans weren't criticizing Obama for murdering civilians, it's because they agreed with it. They attacked him on pretty much everything else, after all.
Ohh, your right! I forgot that the torture Obama was overseeing in Guantanamo was allowed by the constitution! He never violated anybody's rights, or broke any national laws!
Like I said, people only cry foul when its not 'their guy' disregarding the law and constitution. America has always been like this, and its only getting worse as both sides become more neurotic.
I guess the way I'd put it is that we've been increasingly allowing and not punishing privacy breaches and government/authorities overstepping and after 20+ years of boiling the frog the latest, most extreme variant has pretty much pushed it over the edge of dystopian.
So it's not all Trump, but his administration has definitely pushed the lack of accountability to new heights and combining it with the new wave of surveillance tech with limited oversight or legislation it's all just become ingrained with nobody to fight it.
The title expected me to see the common 48k model, not the rarer 128k one.
The paper itself says "a stock 128Kb Spectrum" which is confusing for those who weren't aware of this model.
Most other European countries were C64 and MSX territory.
It is strange that on UK, Speccy birthplace they were apparently rare, given all the Crash and Your Sinclair magazines I owned at the time, and related content.
Sinclair didn't bring the 128K+ to the UK until early 1986 because he wanted to run down the 48K+ stock at Christmas.
Amstrad bought Sinclair in spring 1986 and they ran down the remaining 128K+ stock, meanwhile the grey +2 was already ready to manufacture - they'd already designed the case and reversed engineered the 128K+ to get a head start. It was in the shops by that autumn.
This is one of those cases where saying "Europe should..." is valid, because they do have the concept of European law which if passed has to become law in all member states as well.
And to head off at least one of the common denier objections, those deaths are reflected in the excess mortality figures, they’re not affected by how deaths were classified.
I.e., the number is not affected by how people were diagnosed, or how their cause of death was recorded. Claiming that there was a widespread trend of classifying unrelated deaths as COVID-19-related doesn’t affect that number at all. Here’s a CDC page about this: https://stacks.cdc.gov/view/cdc/89507/cdc_89507_DS1.pdf
inflation combined with little to no wage increase leading to total economic stall outside of the scope of any safety mechanisms, which precipitates an extreme cliff-face degradation of everyday life and commerce for citizens at every level.
or, another way : conditions that would lead to public rebellion en masse, which further stalls things past the economic strife.
