I had 7 users using just email. I cancelled GSuite last month after being on the free tier for 15 years and not wanting to pay $6 a month per person. I went through the pain process of creating everyone in the family new Gmail accounts and using Google Takeout so I could transfer everyones email etc to their new accounts and then I set up Google Domains email forwarding to these accounts. I took me all day to setup separate device passwords for everyone.
I have my domain name with Google Domains so I am using their email forwarding service to forward my existing email addresses to normal gmail accounts, and then using gmails alias feature for sending mail as my original domain email address.
Works OK and is free (apart from the domain registration fees). Google Domains allows you to have 100 different email addresses forwarded, so all my family can use the same domain
Its was not a fun process
