At this point I don't think Wordpress is going to change their codebase into something more modern and secure. Is there any other easy to use blogging platform like it? PHP based because PHP is everywhere, based on a modern framework (symfony2, laravel, etc), jinja-like template system, support for databases other than mysql?

The new Drupal 8 is based on Symfony2, uses Twig for templates, and supports databases other than mysql.

> and secure

Given it's popularity , i would assume wordpress is (by sheer force of Trial and error ) the safest choice.

Yet the Panama Papers thing happened.

Try with static site generators if you do not need very dynamic site. They are super fast and highly customisable. Try lektor, my fav.

I was wondering if that site was some sort of aggregator and amazed that it would carry over the code examples so well from the actual article. This explains so much.

I just checked their article again and now it's completely different. What a bunch of crooks.

Wow, yeah. They seriously rewrote it entirely and removed the source link just to maintain the traffic flow from HN? I'd say "flag the article".

EDIT: Dang to the rescue.

Yes. And like the french word it literally means to stop fasting.

Patient: "It hurts when I touch my abdomen"

Doctor: "Solution: stop touching your abdomen"

Patient: "My abdomen hurts when I or anyone else says my name."

Doctor: "... Change your name?"

Patient: "It hurts when I touch my abdomen"

Doctor: "Your index finger is broken."

I thought it came from ping pong. As in you send a "ping" and it responds with a "pong".

reminds me of mIRC's "Ping? Pong!" events...

I think it's fine if some people get to live as long as they want. Not all of us desire it and not all of us would make good use of it. The people that do it can then decide to stop whatever is helping them stay alive when they no longer want to. I see no downsides to this.

You might need different node/postgres versions for different projects.

Or indeed for testing the same project against different versions or in different environments.

How likely is facebook to block it?

Only if Facebook shuts down their Messenger Platform! https://developers.facebook.com/docs/messenger-platform They just recently launched it at their F8 developer conference.

HN could simply add a '&title='. No need to change anything in their routes, just change the link in the main page.

I don't think search engines are the main source of readers for HN.
