Yeah, they usually do that. Remember things like the gazillion Microsoft365 variants and every single .NET offering out there.

Office was renamed to Copilot 365...

Some countries are already discussing just that. From Norway (where people call them "pervobriller" or "pervert glasses"): https://www.nrk.no/norge/regjeringa-vurderer-forbud-mot-meta...

Windows has always been weird like that. Relevant HN post from a few days ago: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=49599481

I use Junie at work and I have to say I'm not amazed by it. Plus I cannot run it inside an Alpine Linux VM which is annoying as all the other agents I tried worked just fine.

I ran into a government site that not only was aware of the devtools being open, but also stopped virtually all user actions if it did. And it worked quite well- to bypass it, I had to block the detection script from loading altogether since merely removing the event listener didn't work.

I ran into a different site where every single action had a debug breakpoint pausing everything if you had devtools open. Luckily, you can disable breakpoints.

I think that changed around the time COVID hit and offer was highly surpassed by demand. Lots of overhiring during those days.

As someone from South America I find it interesting that people born and raised in developed countries would think that phone-snatching detection is a bogeyman feature. Over there it's a given that your belongings can stop being yours at any given moment just 'cause.

The thing is that some people start to adopt certain "mannerisms" from their LLM of choice. It's not funny in and by itself, but it tends to be unnecessarily pompous words/expressions as well. Relevant: https://www.vice.com/en/article/youre-not-imagining-it-peopl...

I've seen this too and I get it. However, we should not assume that certain phrases are AI tells. And that was my point. There are all kinds of things I see described here as "AI slop" that are things I just do, and have done, for decades.

Not in isolation, but if a variety of telltales is observed it raises the likelihood of slop, cf Naive Bayes as first approximation

When people interact with spouses and coworkers, it's still human-to-human interaction. There is a person on the other end. Not quite the same when your head doctor, DJ, gym coach, and nutritionist are the same sycophant machine who's eager to let you know how absolutely right you are.

>There is a person on the other end.

Not sure why that matters tbh.

Cognitive Offloading is a human ability. We built a tool that can be used with it in absence of another person.

The argument seemed to be that Cognitive Offloading dehumanised a person, but now things have shifted to "Its only good with another human".

If its worthwhile we will do it, if its not worthwhile we wont.

Wouldn't you solve the space allocation issue by using a symbolic link?

Sorry if it's a dumb question - I'm just getting into sandboxing for the first time myself and ran into this same thought before.

I'm OK with the space being taken. I want total isolation, don't want changes in my main or sandboxes to ripple to one another. As for maintaining, it's only a `rm -rf ~/sandboxes/*` away anyway.
