An historian friend of mine called this a "thermidorian reaction." I had to look it up because of course I first thought of chemistry. Made me wonder if the US really is at risk for some kind of modern dictator or emperor.

I have wondered about this for a long time. Seems like I hear a lot of anecdotal hyping of intermittent fasting, but this is the first study I've seen on oscillations of metabolites and genes.

I had a co-founder who really thrived on challenges. Not impossible deadlines, but almost "I dare you to do this by Monday" kind of thing.

I became a ham out of love and respect for my deceased father, who held a General license, knew Morse code and had been a comms tech in the Air Force. I keep the license in case of emergencies. But neither of those (good) reasons are going to pull new people into Ham.

I remember somebody saying Ham is just a bunch of grumpy old retired guys complaining about the government. Someone else said wait, we aren't all retired!

Good point. And the ones in the bottom quartile on the pay scale are doing most of the work. The more senior profs don't teach much and get paid a lot more.

Headline is a little misleading. The question is why are there so few moderates period.

I feel like there are many more moderate democrats, though I don’t have any stats on that.
