Yes, using tooling is literally what differentiates humans from the apes. Claude and the like are just the next evolution of tooling. BrewUI looks fine to me and I certainly prefer it (as it's native) over all the "hand-crafted" node/electron dumpster fires. If you want to continue to rub sticks together to make fire, nobody is stopping you (except perhaps the market).
No, you have a primitive understanding of evolution. Apes literally use tools. And if you want to play with AI fire in the "crucial entry point to potential malware to my system", nobody is stopping you either (even if you trust your own ringing security endorsement of "looks fine to me"), but that would still not address the core point of this discussion
Oh man they all reach for the nextjs dumpster fire. Every single vibe coded app is that stack. At least many are backed with supabase (Postgres is a same choice).
It's not polite to say, but I have noticed a direct correlation between the skill level/knowledge of people I know and the quality of results they get from LLMs.
Heck even in my own usage I get far better results when using them in domains I know vs domains I don't.
Because you haven't rereleased your own fork in rust yet! The "LLMs can do it" cuts both ways. If that doesn't sound worth your time then it's silly to rudely suggest it is worth someone else's.
I totally agree and I'm guilty of producing some electron crap. I think the ai explosion can be greatly improved by a new easy-for-ai but high performance and consistent ui paradigm. Would love to see a "what would html look like if it was designed for apps instead of documents from the first day" become really popular with the ai models without becoming too hard to read.
One of my deep dark hopes for LLM coding is that it means that nobody ever needs to write an Electron app again. Have a good idea and the ability to plan and structure the code in JS but don’t know a native app language? No problem! Just have the LLM write the Rust or Swift or even C++!
Say that all you want, make it a mantra if you like. But have you ever skipped a meal out of sheer poverty? Or might you be projecting ethics (ie aka Americanism)? Maybe we should actually cut them some slack.
I have. I know a lot of generous, compassionate poor people. I met loads of them in Honduras and Brazil and Belize. Compassion and generosity need not be a factor of economics.
