The 'abandoned' apps are also often actively advertising, so possibly they do something that causes it. I see tens of thousands of apps churn like that a month. They're not some quite app that a developer stopped updating, but something actively having ads bought for it that is then taken off market.

For example these apps advertising in October 2026 https://appgoblin.info/reports/ad-user-acquisition-2026-octo...

And some of them, like the block game are already gone:

I think the biggest money unlock for most people is just to not use the largest models. Luna / Deepseek are a dollar or two a day for coding. Accidentally (or purposefully set a different model) and boom the cost shoots up. I think most people could slash their budgets by 90% just by choosing cheaper models most of the time.

If someone is in a position to use the personal subscriptions, the $20/month plans are about a dollar per work day. I'd rather have the $20/month plan for Opus or Sol 6.1 than deal with all of the extra churn and babysitting from Luna or Deepseek.

This is amazing! Can't wait to trying this out. Also, crazy that I found this on LinkedIn with more upvotes and discussion than the HN thread has.

VSCode + OpenRouter + flavor of the day cheap model.

I spend about $5 a month with this setup.

Yep, and as was expected revenue growth is slowing down. But it was a bit shady they went out of their way to not include that in the initial S-1

> it was a bit shady they went out of their way to not include that in the initial S-1

This is such a bizarre thread. Did you know they're going to release Q4 results after the IPO? IPO buyers won't even know those numbers until after they buy! (Unlike the the Q3 figures.)

It felt a bit dishonest in that they pushed out their S-1 without Q3, and then it turns out Q3 revenue growth is decelerating (which they added in the recent addendum).

That being said, I don't think the government should be involved unless it's to unilaterally ban these "public" companies where shareholders do not have equal voting power with 'founders'.

If people want to invest, let them invest.

Why? Nobody is buying their shares without the opportunity to review both sets of data.

>> Fixing the existing backlog only solves half the problem; the other half is cutting the rate at which new vulnerabilities enter the codebase. For that, we recommend scanning at PR time. We built security guidance directly into our development process through a Claude Code plugin, which we’ve released publicly.

This both makes sense and is likely very juicy for their token volume.

What would a honeypot mean in this scenario? Like they are hoping you'll accidentally send keys? Or that you'll divulge private company information? It seems about the same as any other AI model from OpenAI/OpenRouter etc right?

If you accidentally send private keys to someone logging that data, you need to rotate keys.

But please let me know if you were thinking about something else, I'm interested.

I've seen Experiential Labs insert advertising including the tracked redirect links for them at the end of responses. So who knows what they do with the Chain Of Thought.

And we tend to forget, but we implicitly give any llm provider we use full access to all the tools available in the harness, often including shell, so no changes to the model are required to do malicious things.

1.) predators asking how-to 2.) wanna-be serial killers or other types like that asking how-to 3.) asking for info related to state secrets

The fuzzzzz man

In regular work no, and I use it a lot. In purposefully asking it political questions yes.

edit: Thinking about that now, that was over the webchat interface, so it might not have been related to the model, though I've seen various other related articles: https://www.crowdstrike.com/en-us/blog/crowdstrike-researche...

Can confirm that recent deepseek models refuse on some political questions (not just API level refusals). Actually deepseek models are basically the only chinese models to outright refuse instead of responding with propaganda. But recent deepseek models are not nearly as biased as R1.

Had a blog post on this a couple weeks ago: vals.ai/blogs/china-us-analysis

All on cloud services. Have you got propaganda out of the open weights models?

What do you mean by zero-alignment? Do you consider abliterated models to have zero-alignment?

"Substantially reduced alignment" doesn't exactly roll off the tongue.
