As a Bethesda fan (spending 1000s of hours combined in Fallout and Skyrim), I enjoyed reading this post. Especially liked the use of creating your own NPC to test the various scenarios. I just now started playing the Oblivion remaster for the first time and I find that I am liking the NPC interactions / liveliness a lot more compared to their later titles.

The one item that stood out to me was: "Todd’s mid-fight dagger acquisition Verdict: Impossible in the final game unless scripted to do so"

I do not disagree with the verdict for the final build of the game but I recall observing something similar in Fallout 3. I had stashed a mini-nuke launcher and ammmo in the Megaton player home. Some sort of conflict transpired (do not remember what exactly, perhaps I provoked an NPC for fun), I witnessed one of the town-folk run into my player home (in its own cell) and come back out with my weapon. It is possible with 1000s of hours in Bethesda games I am just mishmashing memories together but I am pretty sure this is what prompted me to eventually download a player home mod (and eventually learn G.E.C.K. by "remastering" it).

Thanks for reading!

It's an interesting anecdote, but from my understanding of the system that simply shouldn't be possible. Your house's interior cell isn't loaded into memory when you are outside in Megaton, so there's no way for the NPC to access your items. I think this fundamental limitation holds true for every version of the engine, from Morrowind to Starfield, but I'd be glad to be proven wrong with concrete evidence.

Sometimes NPCs can follow you if they are close to the door when you enter, so while it’s not so common it could happen.

I could be misremembering since I watched the video on its initial release day. I believe the sprite asset was still there and he was able to restore the original button.

Correct

Malwarebytes Premium; I've been carrying the same license since Windows 7.

There may be more on this list that I missed but I remember "Face Banging Against Wall", "Expressionless Face Half Covered by Hair", and "Face Covered with Black Mask with Eyes and Mouth Exposed" from Skype for Business. I think Microsoft even carried them forward into Teams, although they are all the way at the bottom of the emoji list.

At least we’ll always have orz and ( -_\\)

I do not spend much time looking at NOTAMs but I do not believe this type of wording is found with every NOTAM message. From what I have seen it is usually attached to NOTAMs pertaining to TFRs or security, as a way to establish authority. 49 USC is U.S. Code Title 49 (Transportation) and 14 CFR Chapter I is Code of Federal Regulations, Aeronautics and Space, FAA, DOT.

Great question. If we look at 14 CFR § 91.609 (Flight data recorders and cockpit voice recorders.) I believe we will see that there is no requirement by the DOT/FAA for recorders to stream/upload data anywhere. Also, paragraph i subsection 2 only requires recorders to retain a minimum of 2 hours of recorded information.

Additionally, if we look at paragraph g we will see this: "In the event of an accident or occurrence requiring immediate notification to the National Transportation Safety Board...that results in the termination of the flight, any operator who has installed approved flight recorders and approved cockpit voice recorders shall keep the recorded information for at least 60 days". So it seems that since the flight was not terminated that a backup of the recorder data was not required to be made.

Your remark about FlightAware being owned by L3 Harris piqued my interest since I was not aware of this. I took a look at their About section and it seems they are actually owned by Collins Aerospace a subsidiary of Raytheon. Does not change your point but just a small correction and I also learned something new.

Aha, thanks for the correction

I do not believe the migration tool checks the class/Intel brand of CPU (i3, i5, i7, i9) but the generation, which seems to be 10th gen and higher. You can search this list to see if your generation of Intel processor is supported.

Ha, I am not a controller but I have always called FDIO "Fido". Never heard of RANK or CRT though, probably to be expected since there are so many different systems in the NAS, each with its own unique terminology.

Based on my interpretation of the post I think the FAA will probably select aspects from the various submissions they receive and try to incorporate them into their proposal requirements. So I do not think the students will exactly have a direct hand in the creation of FMDS, that will most likely be up to whatever company wins the contract (https://sam.gov/opp/a3e83f9e32d443b6bdd143ded9612916/view).
