I have been using Kagi for years. I use the family plan for my wife and I. I love it and will continue to use it until it either gets bad, they sell it, or get an ipo. There is no noise. Google, to me is just filled with noise. I used to love the innovation and used many of their products. Their search is now filled with ads and you no longer get good results, in my opinion. Occasionally there have been poor results with items at the top that should not have been, but I have noticed that it has been corrected quite quickly. Kagi does not retain any of your search terms nor does Kagi Assisstant. To me, Kagi gives me results like google used to, there are No ads, and they do not retain your search terms. I will gladly pay for that.

I concur on Kagi. Now when I go to other search engines I just get frustrated.

Wouldn't extensive comments alleviate this? Older appliances used to come with schematics and manuals so you could fix them.

Sure. Limiting what records ISPs keep and sell is good for individuals regardless of what the CIA is doing.

If you go back in time cable used to be something you paid for not to have ads. Now look at us dumb folk, paying for cable/satellite and paying to see ads. Books are also filled with ads - if they mention a product by name - most likely it is placed there - American Psycho wow could not get past a page mentioning some list of products...

Not arguing your larger point, but in American Psycho, the endless lists of brands and clothing labels illustrate the protagonist's obsession with surface appearance and the signals of wealth and status. It's one place where I think the brand barrage is well-placed and even subversive—because who wants to be like Patrick Bateman?

Just really sick of all the online drama, about any site. Just another typical post on HN criticizing another. You know what, You go build a site that is better and perfect. I am sick of people getting articles posted that just criticize. Go build something better, I dare you.

A lot of people have built "something better". But w3schools still ranks the highest. That's the point. There are many better alternatives but the Google rank kills the others.

I feel like the title of this is a lie as the article states something different. I hate being lied to and manipulated.
