Let me tell you a story about Yahoo answers...

I've have been working on software engineering, web development primarily over the last few years. It's always felt that use of AI in industry was hyped up and soon the hype wind down. Finally there would be done very specific domains were AI can do exceptionally well.

But recently I've been looking into the works of OpenAI and I can say that all my assumptions were out right wrong. The rate of growth in AI is increasing definitely. Just consider the voice tech landscape, with the new generative models around speech I can totally foresee the numbers of industries that are going to be disrupted from the ground up.

Tried this yesterday. There are a ton of bugs with the product. Removed it after playing with it for an hour.

* Took me 4 tries to load the existing bookmarks from Brave. It kept crashing everytime * Doesn't support sub folders

Didn't wait to look at what other features weren't available. These two were good enough deal breakers for me.

This sounds like a great idea. Where are you on that?

Still at the "thinking about it" stage :)

Maybe I'll get started tonight...

This article has my Kindle highlights + Anki setup at the end:

I ended up throwing this together: https://pastebin.com/2fCKPsGr

It creates an Anki deck with one card per highlight. The "hint" side of each card shows the book title and the 5 most important words/phrases from the clipping (as determined by Rake [1]). It could also be pretty easily modified to do cloze deletion (fill in the blank) using the "most important" words as the "blanks" on the hint card.

My thinking was that this would help sort of jog your memory of the highlight without just showing the whole thing immediately.

I made a deck of several hundred cards and it seems to work great. Would love if someone tried it out too.

Yes. Keep them coming.

> RoamResearch - The technology for this has been around for a while, but it got put together in a interesting way.

Just checked out the website, how is it any different from Dynalist or Workflowy?

Never tried dynalist. Used Workflowy.

Workflowy is strictly an outliner. It's like Gopher--hierarchical, unlike the Web, which is a graph.

Feature-wise, Roam is more like a graph. You can really easily link to other concepts, and rename pages (and everything renames). It also has a page generated daily, for things you want to write down.

Feeling wise, you get to write things and collect them and organize them later. I think it's more condusive to how people think and research. You might have a piece of data, but you're not sure where to put it yet. Most other note taking systems forces you to categorize first.

Would love to read up on the advancements in NLP. Can you share some links?

Would be great if you could write about the scripts you hack to optimize your workflow

This?

I prefer vim, will try this out though.
