The effort and time that I invested in romanticizing writing code as an intellectual and poetic pursuit feels kinda silly now but still pays dividends. Now I get to explore lots of ideas or the scale of ideas that I previously wouldn't have and I find lots of joy in those moments but I've had to learn to give up on certain types of value systems and can get bored of the process of forever sharpening an arrow.

I've found that daily LLM use have sharpened my mind considerably, it actually forces a shift from 'production' to 'judgment'. Because AI commoditizes average output, the value moves to evaluation and learning to me-speak-words-good. To stay sharp, I started building tools to audit and refine the agent's reasoning cycles (an observability framework). When you treat the LLM as a junior dev, you are able to think much harder about systemic constraints, edge cases, and the taste of the final product.

Hard to define a beginning but "The Algorists" such as Roman Verostko, Frieder Nake, Manfred Mohr are probably a better reference for a starting point http://www.verostko.com/algorist.html

Or possibly Lillian Schwartz's work at Bell Labs http://lillian.com/

I feel the same. The biggest annoyance is not having a better command-line application, at least provide tabs or split-windows. With enough work I can get around not having unix but having open 4 powershells is annoying.
