A friend of mine wanted to give back financially, but not infrequently donating to some random charity. He became a member of https://www.givingwhatwecan.org/pledge/ (there might be other, similar projects, but if I remember correctly it's this one) and for a few years now he has been giving away 10% of his income as part of that community. Of course it doesn't have to be that much, but the pledge - even so it's not binding - and being part of a community helped to stick with it.
I took this connection for the first time this week and I was really impressed. I even took a picture of the screen once it showed that we crossed 300km/h. They used the latest ICE model, wifi was really reliable and they now even offer onboard entertainment. You can watch tv shows, movies, get access to audiobooks etc. on your phone, tablet or laptop (even though the selection is still quite limited). The train is one of my favorite places to get work done. I always try to get a seat in the cabin where phone calls are not allowed.
"Working on Kards, we haven’t just created a new productivity app. We’ve created a set of new technologies to support the creation of productivity apps." - this and the natural language processing sounds interesting. I'm using a mix of a task manager and Evernote which is definitely not the perfect setup.
