That is, the medication doesn't improve anything per se. The problem is obesity and diabetes. The medication does not perform better than these not being present at all.
The presume diabetes - sans T1 - is a norm is false if not dangerous. In other words, "Sure just throw more meds at it" is not a narrative anyone should be comfortable with.
Not universally true, I use banking apps on my Pixel running the latest GrapheneOS. There is literally nothing I cannot do on my phone. I think it's possible that no US banks have apps that can be used as it seems a universal experience among Americans.
Uber, Google Maps, VoLTE, VoWiFi, and eSIM work. You may need to install the sandboxed Google Play Services from the Apps app.
Android Auto is completely disabled as an opinionated security measure.
Google Pay and some banking apps (ones that require Google's Play Integrity API) will not run. GrapheneOS doesn't attempt to spoof these APIs because they are moving towards cryptographic verification [0]. Most apps don't require this check but if they do you are out of luck unless you can get the app developers to trust GrapheneOS's keys.
I think they work if you install Google Play Services (as a sandboxed app). What doesn't work for me is contactless payments with Google Pay however Google Wallet itself works. But I think that is actually intended and for security reasons.
Yea it's probably to have a catchy name and get some attention. Although it's technically accurate to call it 4D since it includes time, I think 3D video recording would probably get the point across to more people in a less sensationalist way.
Is it technically accurate? Seems like its actually 6Dof view angles + time. The paper mentions 4D view, 4D point cloud, dynamic 3D scene and 4D feature grid.
That's probably the most self-aggrandizing interpretation. Could it be that other people have other priorities or interests rather than spending their time figuring out how to obtain digital privacy without compromising in the areas they care about? No surely it's their low "cognitive capital" /s
You are very fortunate to never had the displeasure of having to interact with profoundly stupid people. Not ignorant, not uneducated, but genuinely stupid and slow people.
E.g., People for whom significant, immediate, unexpected mechanical feedback in operating something simple, like window blinds, wouldn't cause them to consider whether they might be doing something wrong, and instead continue operariting the blinds in the wrong direction until they snap and break, genuinely being unaware that they were doing it wrong.
People who are genuinely lacking the common sense you'd expect a human to have, not even with any cognitive disability or learning disorder of any kind - just genuinely stupid but otherwise ordinary people.
What are you talking about? How does this relate to anything in the discussion? Besides, you were denigrating the intelligence of the average person, as though that's the reason they don't acquire all the skills necessary to have digital privacy.
Ironically, that's a stupid assumption to have. You might be in your own bubble, but I know many very intelligent people who do not have the time or interest in gaining digital privacy. It's not as easy or without compromise as you seem to think.
I use GrapheneOS daily and use banking, government, and other sensitive apps without problem. It's a common myth that you can't use those apps on GrapheneOS.
It's not a myth. I run GrapheneOS, and my bank app doesn't work, the Blind app doesn't work, and another common marketplace app (not amazon) has shadow banned me for using it on a device without hardware attestation. I only found out after reaching out to support and having a lengthy conversation with them.
It's idiotic that they require hardware attestation, but let's not fall into the trap of "it worked for me".
Even with these limitations, I'm okay with continuing to run GrapheneOS.
Even the McDonald's app doesn't work if you install it through Aurora store lol. Even though it's the same signed version distributed through Google play and I have Google play on the device, just not signed into a Google account.
Somehow it detects that it was not installed through Google play and refuses to work with an explicit message stating this reason. I really wonder why they care. The app doesn't even take payment, at least not in this country. You still have to pay at the order portal thing.
Fair enough, but on the flipside I wanted to point out that for at least some of us it's possible to use GrapheneOS with no compromises to the experience. Usually you only hear about those telling you categorically that you "can't" use banking, government and other sensitive apps when that's not true. Anyone on the fence should try it out themselves.
I think it's assumed that it's within reason and in situations where the ultimatum has the purpose of pushing you into a situation you would prefer not to be in. The WoW example is an example of dysfunctional behavior and the HR example is a routine process and not unexpected from the recipient nor is the cost of filling it in extreme. Your examples don't apply and it should be obvious why.
