Most national standards now call for a space (preferably a half width space, Unicode: U+2009) as the thousands separator and then either comma or full stop as the decimal separator.
Not in my, admittedly limited, experience. I've stayed in hotels in at least a dozen countries and under half of them wanted my passport. In the UK it's usually enough to just say my name to the receptionist, they confirm how long I'm staying, ask me to sign a form and tell them my car registration number and then they hand me the key. Quite often there isn't even a form to sign, just a terminal to enter my car registration number to avoid parking fees.
I was asked for my passport in a Premier Inn this summer because they thought I was a foreigner but when I pointed out that I was a UK citizen they dropped the requirement.
In Europe it was mostly Italy and Poland that wanted to see my passport.

Perhaps people in your circle are above that. But you don't have to cast your net very wide to find someone who thinks that same sex relationships are an abomination.

Twitter was not representative of everyone and X is even less so.
I think he has slightly misunderstood, or at least misstated, the physics:
> a pendulum oscillates is only determined by its length (and the strength of gravity), while the weight at the end of the pendulum’s rod (which clockmakers call a bob) doesn’t really matter.
This not correct. The period is determined by the distance from the fulcrum to the centre of mass. The position of the bob does matter. On my grandfather clock there is a small screw that adjusts the position of the bob and hence the length of the pendulum so that you can regulate the clock.
My interpretation was that the actual mass of the bob doesn’t contribute to the period of the pendulum. I suppose it could shift the centre of mass somewhat relative to the mass of the rod?
Just as I was getting comfortable with 10+ days of uptime, we get a neighbourhood internet downtime! It it’s back up. It was a good test of auto resume capabilities I built into my custom streaming application.
And why would they do that? Willingly give up power?
Of course they should, but it's not something I would bet much money on.
