There is a great youtube channel called mCoding that covers some of the more obscure details of the python language. https://youtube.com/c/mCodingWithJamesMurphy

Closed captions on blu-rays and DVDs are stored as bitmap images, so it wouldn't be possible to search those, although I'm sure the scripts are somewhere on the internet.

Can just OCR them, although you should just watch all of them manually for fun like I'm doing with Nick Cage.

I'm looking for an oled tv, and I was wondering what the model of the tv with reduced color accuracy is?

This one is an LG OLED55B8PUA

It's anti-intellectual to blindly assume that the majority of papers published right now are high quality.

This. Journals aren't science. They aren't even good for science. They create the wrong incentives for scientific publishing and are a primary driver of the replication crisis.

Open forums with science publishing for the sake of science should be the direction of travel, but we see a trajectory towards gatekeeping infected by corporate profiteering.

Same with assuming that prestigious schools are more likely to produce amazing research. I have found the absolute worst papers from otherwise respectable ivies. A case of someone buying their PhD, I assume.

Writing is work. Work isn't just physical labor.

Considering how drastic the excess deaths of 2020 and 2021 are relative to previous years, I have a decent amount of faith in the number of deaths reported to be caused by covid.

Did you dig into the excess death numbers? A big fraction aren’t covid related, interestingly.

No saying people aren’t dying of Covid, just wondering how accurate the numbers are? And is Covid as the cause correctly attributed?

Tons of people are skipping routine screening and exams. Lots of people are straight up avoiding any medical treatment out of fear of catching Covid. (including routine vaccination!). Raw numbers aren’t helpful here.
