He probably bothered to learn "git add" "git commit -am" "git push" and nothing else.

Or maybe his CS friends helped put it on github.

Or maybe he's just to piss us off :)

I use aTimeLogger app to track my time then I email myself a CSV report from the app and use Google Sheets to create the invoice using a couple simple formulas and an invoice template I made.

I paste the data from the email into a new copy of the invoice template and it mostly does everything I need. Then I download it as a PDF and send it.

I invoice two to four companies per month. Takes me less than 1/2 hour usually.

But I came here to find out if there was a nice self-hosted alternative.

Sorry you're experiencing this. My advice would be:

1. Don't assume this will last forever. 2. Don't assume things are the same everywhere.

Hang in there. Try a new job, maybe a different field, maybe just a different company?

I've done both. 18 years working for companies big and small and 5 years consulting. It would be a no-contest vote for consulting if there was affordable healthcare.

Even without affordable health care I'll vote "Work for yourself" but the margin is smaller.

$23,000 per year for healthcare is a tough pill to swallow.

(I live in the US obviously)
