Yeah but imagine how much more powerful AI will be by then. Command it to refactor it's sloppy code.

yeah just create a fork, problem solved

I wouldn't say they are falling. The pricing is just being distributed differently to make it look like you can beat the system.

For my specific plan, the daily rate (supply charge) has gone up from $1.13 to $1.80. That is a price regardless of any usage. This varies depending on what you select for your usage rates. So if you happen to get a lower per kWh rate, then your supply rate goes up.

Time of use also is manipulative. If you have a variable rate (time of use) then your peak time is much higher than your off peak which is higher still if you were on a fixed rate plan. If you select a plan that has 3 "free" hours then the peak time is rediculous priced.

So to sum up.. You have to have a very good understanding of how you use your power.

Home battery systems, and solar to some extent, are essentially 'pre-pay' schemes. A shift of where your money goes. At least for the next 7 to 10 years which is a rough payback period for solar/battery.

I would also like to mention, when Australia introduced the solar panel schemes, the retailers were paying 60c/kWh for infeed, now they are paying 1 to 2c. The high infeed allowed a home owner to offset their bills by infeeding while at work, sometimes even generate a credit just from solar. Certainly not these days. So what would be the next shift after they get everyone on home battery systems.

Very cool!

Need to make the reading text longer though for people such as my super human wife that still had 10 seconds (or more) left after finishing.

It tops out at around 550-600 words per minute.

Made a few updates -- lengthened passages, normalized font sizing/spacing, etc.

Can your wife please try again? -- https://margo.fyi

Also added a step at the front to make it clear (in case it wasn't before) that users should be reading at a normal, relaxed pace. The goal is to test the fonts, not your reading speed.

For improving your speed-reading, that'd be the forked version another commenter suggested. For Margo, you want to read at a comfortable pace

Slow down there, Jeff Gordon :)

Nah, you're absolutely right. The current passages are 250-300 words.

We'll get them to 400-420 so aliens like your wife can also find their font

I think I might generate one of these on a daily basis. Articles and all!

Reminds me of RC Pro Am :-)

I would be looking for a solution to run Minecraft official launcher in Linux. It is heavily integrated with Windows extras such as the Microsoft Store.

This is the last holdout to get my children on Linux.

What's missing from the launcher available on Linux? I've been using it for many years, but I have never used in on Windows.

There are two editions: Java and Bedrock. Bedrock is the one that's got Realms, which is the easy way to get servers running.

Have this problem with my brother and nephew, would love to get the lad on Linux, but this is a real obstacle.

Java edition can also use Realms. I'm playing on a realm using Linux Java edition and the official launcher now.

Oh aye? I'll have a look into that, cheers. Totally had it in my head that was a blocker.

What is missing from the unofficial Bedrock launcher?

When I run into issues with running games on Linux (Steam or otherwise), I found it useful to consult protondb.com to see what others have gotten to work. You can filter by OS or keyword etc.

Have you tried CachyOS? May get the results you are looking for with Desktop or even Handheld addition.

I also use RSS feeds. A couple sites that are useful to me that I picked up from HN submissions recently:

I also had typing classes in the 90s which I believe helped but I was also eager to learn how as I didn't have a computer at home, so any chance to get my hands on a typewriter or computer.

I believe my touch typing speed come about with instant messaging applications such as AOL Instant Messenger, ICQ, or chatting in mIRC. I felt the need to type as fast as possible to be able to stay in the conversation with many users or to keep conversation moving as naturally as speaking speed.
