Not only an untrue statement, but also a sadly incurious way to approach someone else's design choice. Yes, it was an enormous amount of work and invention to achieve a desired effect, but the effect is striking in an environment that is otherwise plastered with everyday visual clutter.

Minimalism is difficult and expensive to achieve. Some people consider that effort worthwhile.

I don’t see this sort of review as aggressive or hostile; rather, it displays the sort of inductive reasoning that we should all be doing more of in the face of wondrous claims that follow a recognizable pattern.

Hype artists and bad faith actors thrive on amnesiac audiences, and it’s about time we were all a bit less credulous.

“Gridlike layout” != “tables”.

Criticism =/= silencing.

A recent Ken White (Popehat) essay:

“My Free Speech Means You Have To Shut Up”

The comment you're replying to is accurate. The intent is to silence her.

Death threats = silencing.

Death threats should be investigated and prosecuted. People are still allowed to criticize illiberal opinions.

The problem isn't opinions but inconsistent ones which the Left is imposing on others. Here's Richard Dawkins tearing apart the Left's logic. A white woman identifying as black women is bad while a man identifying as a woman is ok.

John Canfield’s lament on IMAX technology vs IMAX branding remains relevant: https://johncanfield.me/blog/disappointing-world-imax-liemax...

Sadly, one of the last “real” hemispherical IMAX domes that showed feature films in my metro area abruptly closed a few years ago. Dual-laser “IMAX” is the only option within hundreds of miles.

“Half = most” is… innovative. I like to think of it as “half = so many that you’ll run into a lot of them.”

By "most" definitions, "most" means more than half. So we're literally arguing over a single person.

Excited to try this buuuut... on iOS, there's grey touch-blocking overlay over the entire interface with no way to dismiss it.

This happened to me on Chrome in Linux. I turned off my adblock and the grey overlay went away.

Also, it's a pwa so you can install it as a standalone app and use it offline etc :)

Same issue present when used as standalone.

Variability in the sun’s output has long been accounted for in climate modeling.
