Nevertheless, embedding gender into the language grammar enables many very elegant expressions of phrases as seem in many Latin and Greek poets.

As far as I know, articles of Ancient Greek adhere to roughly the same declension rules as nouns, with a little bit of irregular changes. And as for modern languages like Italian and French, their articles, while being irregular, are mostly inherited from Latin demonstratives ille, illa, illud, knowing this might help memorize the many forms.

What you described does not qualify as a good fantasy either. There needs to be rules even in the world of magic, and eventually so called hard fiction and fantasy only really differ in the way how they present the fantasies.

There is a book I love: Lord of Light by Roger Zelazny, in which he first wrote about fantasy figures with magic powers in Buddhism tales, and then revealed that they were just humans with high tech and play gods to those who don't.

Thanks for the recommendation . Sounds like a good read.

AGI has always been expected to outperform humans or else what is the point of it?

The point is replacing humans, and for that it only has to equal them at lower cost (including factors like not needing sleep and being easily clonable). The outperformance lies in the cost savings, not necessarily in the intelligence.

An AI does not have to be AGI to replace humans, that is whole another topic I think.

I have setup a gitea instance on my gitea server which I think is good for me and GitHub both. For one, I dont have to worry about GitHub service outages, and GitHub gets to be free from my toy (and mostly AI slop) projects that no one else will ever read/use/participate in :-)

And sometimes when I type fast there is "gis tatus"

I’m a bad typist, so it’s ‘hoy’ for me.

Dont know about other places, but in my place, almost every xbox user I know already play all digitally now. Literally xbox is the first console platform to drop physical disc long before sony, though not officially stated.

But that's not how the numbers work. I bought a PS5 (instead of gaming on Steam or Xbox) because I could buy physical discs, and I like having them. I buy digital games from time to time as well, but if the PS5 hadn't supported physical games at all, I wouldn't have bought one in the first place, just as I most likely won't buy a PS6 because of this announcement.

I'd like to think I will also boycott any future generations of these gaming consoles, but the fact is that we'll get used to this as the new way of life at some point.

Our collective desire to play GTA 6 will outweigh our desire to "stick it to the man".

Yes I do think cloud providers should open source all of their platforms, and this is not charity because it is essentially the hosting that they are providing as a product. Even if, say, google open sources its whole search infrastructure, it does not at all means you can just host your own due to the huge hardware requirements, but you can know(especially after AI which can be utilized to do this) that they are not using your data in a way they shouldnt.

> because it is essentially the hosting that they are providing as a product

That would be true _if_ they were forced to open source all their code, but it isn’t today.

> Even if, say, google open sources its whole search infrastructure, it does not at all means you can just host your own due to the huge hardware requirements

You can’t but Acme Inc and other bigcorps could, and Google’s margins would evaporate overnight.

Well, chromium the web engine is open source but it is still hard to craft a web engine with equal level of performance and other metrics, even with a team of talents.

Besides that, what you say may be true from the google's perspective. From a user(which I am) perspective, Google and Microsoft and other big corps have proven again and again with their actions that they cannot be trusted, just refer to https://www.gnu.org/proprietary/proprietary.html.

I am indeed looking into an alternative to Google recently, but more because of my need of a good search mcp server for my coding agents. I am thinking about either exa or kagi, but I have no idea which one is better. Also exa seems not quite frequently mentioned in the community, wondering why.

I've had generally good experiences with Exa, I use it as an MCP in all my various coding tools and use the API whenever I build an AI thing that needs search.

Also an extremely happy Kagi user but can't speak to their API, haven't tried it yet.

And I just checked kagi search API is in public preview now

kagi seems to provide a mcp server as well although maybe no direct API access
