Don't work on an idea just for the money.

Work on something that you will use. Something that you really want to exist and there are only sub-par or no alternatives out there. Whether this is something that will entertain you or fix a problem of yours.

It is most likely that if you find this product of use then someone out there in the world will think the same as well. However, this could be five people or thousands of people, it is hard to predict.

If it is really good then the money will follow, but instead of money, take satisfaction that you have created something from an idea and that there's at least one person other than you that is using it.

Well that trumps this website http://www.bankwest.com.au/ which cost $5 million to make.

Did that come with the online banking site, or is $5M just for that one page?

Online Banking is usually done internally by banks. The front facing consumer sites are usually done by an agency.

I know that Host was doing work for Bank West. Anyone knows if they also did this as well or are they just above the line for this client?

Maybe that's why hackers would buy an iPhone due to its "restrictiveness". That's the fun in being hacker isn't it? Breaking into the system and playing around with it.

I'm not saying closed architecture is a good thing and am not a fan of Apple.

I'm currently in uni and have been thinking of starting up a biz as soon as I graduate and as Paul pointed out my goal has actually made me learn stuff in uni instead of trying to get the best grades to impress employers.

It would also be a great change to see technological universities align their teaching to help students startup companies instead of preparing them for 9-5 work.
