The we is capitalism I suppose. We voted for this, we chose this, we continue to choose it. Kind of like walking blindly into this unfortunate predicament a lot of people find themsevles in. Yeah, it's not necessarily a single action any single individual made, but the collective direction we as a society went. We're frogs boiling ourselves literally and figuratively; question is are we going to jump out or do nothing.
I think you lack a complete perspective and are only stating the obvious things. Yeah, some people may invite this upon themselves.
But a lot of others find it incredibly difficult to develop friendships, let alone intimate relationships, in this world, especially in western countries - I could list out the reasons why but this comment will become awfully long.
We should remind ourselves that we don't know everything, we don't see everything, and we should be open to viewing the world from other people's perspective. We'll learn a lot about ourselves and our place in the world that way.
2020-22 still seemed like I was still in the ignorance is bliss phase, but then middle of last year it really hit me, and hit me hard, how alone I was. Lost a lot of joy in life and can't enjoy the thing I used to. I have a hard time focusing on things and can barely read a page of a book without my mind wandering. I'm making an attempt to steer the ship in the right direction now, but it's so hard. A lot of people I knew, used to talk regularly to, have moved on and there's no reconnecting with them now (I tried). Everything is so different...maybe it always was and I just never really cared to look and realize, I was "happy" in being alone and ignorant of the social aspects of the world. What a sad time we live in.

Is this the person that committed suicide by self inflicted gunshot to the back of his own head? Or am I mixing up whistleblowers who've committed suicides?
Why does it matter? Do you think it's impossible to commit suicide in that way? Do you think that the coroner has less information than you do about whether this is suicide or not? Do you think the coroner has less training and knowledge than you do in this area?
Or is it just that conspiracy theories are fun?
For reference, it is rare but not extremely so that people commit suicide with a gunshot to the back of the head. And in fact, you can find studies like https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38471138/ that explicitly go into ways to distinguish between a suicide and a homicide in such situations.
I have the same thought process. What do they think about current high level trends, the economy, but otherwise I don't think very highly of them. The one bio science guy is decent, somewhat grounded compared to the others.
I did get kind of tried of their non-stop AI hype train talk. Seems like for majority of the last 1-2 years that's all they've talked about most of the time.
If it's like anything else coming out of Google, most likely those who made it got their cake, I mean pomo package, and moved to something else. Some other folks were left to maintain it until the inevitable sun setting.
Thanks for your response. However regrading your point B), I imagine you didn't fully read the description of this post. I was hoping to keep this objective and not about discussing things like therapy and people's personalities. I don't want this thread to be about those things. Strictly about any companies that happen to fit this criteria -- even if the answer is "no", then a simple "no" is sufficient.
If you provides you any comfort (if that's the right word to use here), my wording in my post was perhaps not quite right. I simply don't want to spend a week traveling, living in a hotel, doing mandatory group activity -- I'd rather spend that time with people in my life and living my life outside work hours
