I've been thinking about revamping and bringing back mailing lists but I'm still thinking through the obstacles. Does anyone else have any thoughts?

Microsoft kills products that were dead anyway. Google hypes you up, cuddles you, tells you that you're the best and then pushes you off the cliff when you're not looking because you farted in bed the other night.

I have a feeling that Reddit will make all the wrong decisions in reaction to this.

This is why VR is a necessity and not a dream. We have evolved to stand straight. It'll be easier to build on top of that adaptation instead of trying to go against it.

You will still want to use your phone, on the go or sitting waiting for someone/something, or slouched on the couch. How does VR (a closed headset isolating you from your environment) help with that? The solution to looking down all the time is looking straight ahead instead. If we suggest ideas, mine is to make phones lighter and and easier to grip so you can hold them up easily and for a longer period of time. And if you suggest a necessity… Let me suggest a standing desk as a necessity.

"Gorilla arm" means that holding up your arm(s) without rest will eventually make them achy and tired, even if you're reading a single sheet of paper.

Standing desks are great, for those who can personally afford them, or can obtain employer accommodation.

For exercises to improve posture and relieve pain, I've been relying on this YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@posturemakeover7165 She's selling a 30-day program, but the introductory material is comprehensive and life-changing.

Can’t agree enough. My back/neck issues amplified during covid, invested in a sit/standing desk together with a stool (varier move, also nice when standing up) after a while; it was worth every cent.

My next, just achieved, goal was to remove my 3-monitors from the setup, I wanted to have more space and move my head/neck more. Bought a VR headset (Pico 4) this friday and setup VirtualDesktop & Immersed (if you want to see your keyboard), what a blast.

The most noticable thing for me was, once the lenses were setup properly, the ‘monitor’ was always clear no matter what position I was in or angle with the monitor; my posture feels less tense already (biggest difference is the position of my chin I think, it doesnt creep towards the monitor anymore.

The image quality really isn’t good enough, pico has 2 4K lenses but it feels like a monitor from 2010 sometimes. Really looking forward to Apples take on VR/AR since it seems to be aimed at replaving a workstation rather than a gaming device.

Id love to try a multi monitor setup from VR and just lay down all day or something

This article gave me a good laugh. Just proves how much AI is subservient to our will. We just have to be really clear about what we mean. I expect everyone's communication skills to shoot up this century.

These people seem like they would have taxed smartphone companies so they can keep payphones alive. What is wrong with government in California? I don't understand how they can come to these conclusions after a lot of deliberation. It almost seems to me like they are only trying to find ways to line their pockets and then leave.

Good idea. Having public payphones allows the poor and homeless to make calls

Where does the trash come from?

We assume they are leaving in the dead of night and grocery shopping at one of the 24 hour grocery stores. Maybe they have packages delivered somewhere they can pick them up in the dead of night. There is always someone around during the day, so for sure somebody would have seen them come or go if they were doing so during the day in the past 2 years. Our conjecture is either they are vampires (which is unlikely since it was daytime when they first arrived) or they are in the witness protection program.

I just remembered another detail. They have grass in their front yard. It is cut, but a service has never come by and cut it and, of course, we’ve never seen them cut it. But we don’t hear any sounds in the dead of night of it being cut and it doesn’t look like it was cut with a scythe. Frankly, it’s a mystery.

They are one of the Matrix communication ports...

Brought in through underground tunnels .

Do you have an alternative in mind?

Joint accounts. Isn’t that the subject of discussion?

With the growth of AI, I wouldn't be surprised if it'll be 99% from bots one day.
