Saipan is inhabited by the Chamorro, who are mostly Roman Catholic. Quite the opposite of Calvinists.

What's missing are the jobs lost in other parts of the economy, because govt stimulus is basically a transfer of resources from existing private businesses. In other words, do we really think taxing Google, filtering the money through Congress and the lobbying machine, and providing those funds to a politically favored roads project is really a net jobs creator for the economy?

The U.S. economy is stalled because of a wave of government legislative activism (health care, finance, bailouts, energy, labor) unseen here since the New Deal.

>The U.S. economy is stalled because of a wave of government legislative activism

Really? I thought it was that dive in consumer demand.

"Your music" is just a remix of sounds and words from earlier artists. Extending copyright like this stifles innovation and future creativity.

Please explain this nonsensical argument. How does the Rolling Stones holding the copyright to Paint It Black stifle someone else's innovation and creativity? Seriously. Innovation and creativity go with being original, and you're encouraging being derivative.

Look at Disney and don't tell me that a lack of copyright makes creativity. A lack of copyright just enables corporations to mass produce drivel from non-copyrighted works and cut out the talented people. Disney is barely a step away from just an algorithm that creates film scripts from Brothers Grimm stories.

Also known as "The Dog Ate My Homework Act"

Exhibit A of the widespread pay-to-play corruption in Washington, D.C.

Your post is too partisan and too cynical. This was a good day, and the system worked.

Of course Congress will hold hearings and some will complain loudly-- it is a controversial and major decision-- but there is no mechanism for Congress to overturn this action...it is up to the courts, the law, and the economists, as designed.

Taxpayers also lost over $500 million, thanks to the U.S. government's crony capitalist "green" subsidized lending program.

In 2011, the the U.S. government will spend more money directly bailing out Fannie Mae than it will spend on NASA's entire budget.

According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Budget_of_NASA the inflation-adjusted budget of NASA over its entire history from 1958 to 2011 is less than $800 billion.

That is significantly less than the cost of... several single large initiatives that have passed through Congress recently (no doubt if I picked an actual example then I'd wind up with a political argument on my hands...)

The model revolves around freedom and innovation in the way people organize themselves.
