That's a really nice website!

Came to say something similar...

The US is first on prison population (total) and forth on rate on incarceration (behind El Salvador, Cuba, and Turkmenistan).

The odd thing is that the incarceration rate in the US is 542 per 100k, but the murderer rate is probably something like 200-350 per 100k.

5.9 homicides per 100k annually [1]. Assuming the average person who commits homicide commits 1 homicide in their lifetime (known homicide distributions support this) then that is 5.9 new murderers per 100k annually. Distributed over expected lifetime that would be 200-350 murderers per 100k.

So, if the US successfully imprisoned every murderer and only murderers, it would still be ~25th (~Nicaragua) to ~80th (~Russia). Nearly 2x the total incarceration rate of France and 3x the total incarceration rate of Germany if only murderers were incarcerated and we used the low estimate.

If we assume that homicide is relatively rare compared to severe physical violence that most nations consider worthy of incarceration, then just imprisoning all violent offenders in the US would likely require 1,000+ per 100k at the low end, over twice the actual rate in the US.

First time in a while that I've been impressed by someone's website. This is a fun desktop mockup!

It's not just someone's website, it's Posthog lol

They've always had a vibe that is very AI-heavy but with intentional, fun design hearkening back to 00s UI staples.

I was waiting for you to finish this with "she also gives me hugs and pays half of the mortgage".

I think for that last part it's more the other way around.

Have you seen the price of gold vs. the price of digital art?

Like, per-ounce?

I think I need to use the quote here: "think of a person with average intelligence and then understand that 50% of people are dumber". It's going to be a bloodbath because even if the banks block agents there will still be third-party apps like Robinhood, Venmo, BroApp2027 that are given access and they'll be hooked up to agents.

I’m willing to bet 98% of developers buy cars, practical tools, appliances, houses, electronics, etc. without personally verifying that the one they’re getting is suitable for its advertised uses. Developers have subject matter expertise in software, and to a lesser extent, computers. They don’t have to know how to inspect a transmission to have recourse if their new car has one not suitable for its advertised uses. My mechanic shouldn’t have to know how to evaluate a software product to determine that the underpinnings are suitable for its advertised use case. This industry overrun with hucksters and there’s zero accountability.

This is both hilarious and painful to read. One keeps saying "obviate" at every opportunity and concludes every meeting by deciding we need to rebuild the data model.

"I asked the county for Nov 6 or 7" hahaha good luck Claude, make sure you follow up with the county official every other day for the next 8 months.

Nah you're way off the mark here and this sounds scarily like how people feel when at their most bleak. I hope this is just you reflecting and not how you feel "in real life" - family needs family and kids need their parents. Kids need their parents even if they're broke and/or out of work.

We're trending towards just building the thing fast and getting feedback sooner on it. It's interesting to see end users actually trial a UI very early on instead of just being shown designs.

In addition to that, solving for every approach to a problem to see what wins is also very interesting.

The key, still, is shipping far less, too soon, to minimize cruft.
