Matter of taste. I like eating cocoa beans. Oddly, I cannot stand the smell of coffee.

I read somewhere that transplanted organs adopt the age of the recipient, contradicting the hopes of people who want to live forever by replacing their organs regularly.

Didn’t Putin allude to that recently ?

In any case that’d be good news, it would augment the organ availability by allowing older donors!

Yeah Putin was heard talking / bragging to Xi about it not so long ago, if I remember correctly.

The idea that Putin dies of old age is hilarious.

He is a scared man - I don’t think ‘paranoid’ is the right word, as his fear is legitimate.

> Considering that aging only happens later in life,

In other news, widows outlive their husbands.

We are not talking about your amount of time on earth going up, we are talking about the biological mechanisms that happen later in life.

When in Rome do as the romans. Different cultural habits can shock Japanese; this has nothing to do with race.

There are lots of ethnic Japanese, born and raised in Brazil, who went on to work & live in Japan. Many street signs in Nagoya are in Japanese and Portuguese.

However, they are direct, outspoken, have late loud parties that annoy the general population. It will take a generation to acclimate to local customs.

Must be that beyond a certain threshold (10% ?), Japanese are worried about their culture and identity.

I was introduced to ucsd pascal on apple 2 but switched to Ada by the time turbo pascal came out. This intro is nice but I feel Ada is the way to go if one is into wirthian languages.

Agreed, given it being an international standard.

However even Ada Core's IDE is a bit of lackluster when comparing with 1990's Delphi, let alone today.

Chademo is a turn off though

Two days ago while fixing our 7 year old Samsung washer (a 1 cent coin blocking the drain pump impeller) I read the user manual for the first time and found out you can install an app that connects with it and “smart things “.

Not doing that !

Tried it on my 2010 iMac. Works like a charm, interesting setup and ui choices. Not sure I’ll stick with it but I’m impressed.

These apologetic “no fan of musk”, “before Elon became crazy” are tiresome. You got a Tesla, just own it. We liked the guy when he started that electric car thing, now it’s different but he’s no mass murderer.

Well, sure, if only because counting lives lost from policy changes is difficult to do and the methodologies are complex.

I'm not apologizing for having a Tesla, I just want it to be clear that I'm not an Elon fan boy. You don't have to go far on the internet to find people praising Tesla cars for things that are not really that impressive. When Cybercab launched there were people who were making memes that cybercab was the "cool" robotaxi because there weren't sensors everywhere like Waymo.

But it's also important to not let fanboyism cloud judgment. Tesla has great software.

> Was "being agentic" and "being keyboard shortcut oriented" the big gaps preventing the adoption of linux on desktop?

Of course not but dhh makes it clear omarchy is not for everybody. And that’s all right.
