Bad news for smaller app developers: when Android becomes monopoly, apps will be pulled left and right from Google Play.


For what reason? I would wager that 3rd party stores would gain popularity should that happen.


If that happened, Google would stop letting you install those.


And you'd likely see a fork with support of the major handset makers and companies like Amazon. Google has a lot of control thru Play Services, but something that hostile would be a recipe for a split.


Oh right, something like Cyanogenmod, right? ducks


They've been looking into getting rid of aosp for years by the means of neglecting it. So they'd just have to stop publishing the code.


They would be sued so hard and fast that they would travel back in time to register the original googol domain.


This move by Apple isn't in response to losing marketshare as much as iPhone owners not upgrading.
