It might make it worse. I actually have many things I love about China and wouldn't mind moving there for a few years if it wasn't for this oppressive stuff.

If you don't involve yourself deep into politics the most oppressive thing there is that you have to eat with chopsticks.

It is hardly totalitarian dystopia. As long as you are there to make money and help the chineese do so you are fine.
