I haven't seen much docker used with python? I thought it was mostly a nodejs/java thing...

I am mostly a python dev though. I may have just ignored the docker option when presented with a python project, but used it for those other languages.



Doesn't that make perfect sense then? Of course you run the native to you language natively. 80% of my work is currently Java, I have a Java-first IDE, Maven, a bunch of different JVMs, I'm ready to go. But if I have to run someone else's Ruby project, could I please have a Docker image?


Wait until you need to deploy to a platform that doesn’t have a precompiled version of a dependency uploaded to PIP. Docker shines in that regard.


I thought that's what wheels were solving?
