Ask HN: Why does it seem like people dislike AMP?

I get the general impression that people don't like AMP, but I don't know why.

People like the restrictions AMP applies

People dislike that to "use AMP" you have to be hosted by Google on a Google domain that hides your real website's domain, and only Google - you can't run your own AMP-equivalent behind any major CDN

Because of embrace, extend, extinguish, and the attempt of Google to make itself synonymous with the web.
