so the connections between the earlier uses of heeled and the later seem pretty tenuous to where I would say there is a definite inductive gap, although I guess it also makes unlikely my original assumption that someone was well-heeled because good footwear is expensive - related to some old article in GQ where it was asserted that the old rich might dress like a beach bum and drive a nondescript car but will always have the most expensive and highest quality footwear.
