Musk’s Twitter Deal May Face National Security Review (forbes.com/sites/siladityaray)

What is the Administration’s statement here?

That Twitter important to national security but is not a public utility / common carrier or subject to strict 1A protections?

It doesn't seem like there is one. It could be as simple as a reporter asking an admin official 'given the war in Ukraine and the international nature of things like Starlink and Twitter, are you guys performing any kind of national security review?' and the official saying 'sure, we always consider such issues.'

It's not clear from the bloomberg report whether the admin has initiated any sort of process or is just acknowledging existing concern from some parts of the public.

Would they be doing their jobs NOT looking in to this in some capacity, lack of precedent notwithstanding? Seems routine to me.

Hard to have any other take.
