I think it was only announced "[Google] plans to reorganize a big part of its 30,000-person ad sales unit" (https://www.reuters.com/technology/google-plans-ad-sales-res...), not letting go 30,000.

Thanks for the clarification, I was also surprised this was not a headline in the main media.

"Google announces even worse quality control and lack of ability to talk to a human responsible for issues with your ads"

Days after the NYT foolishly sued OpenAI Google flexes how good their AI tech is at replacing people - I think they are super confident now.

Seriously, with just the tech I'm aware and stuff that should be almost here rn, I have tried to imagine how every will end up automated and I'm serious when I say almost everything can be automated if we just change the way we do most things just a little bit.

I live a real small life - I'll be fine without income but I think its hilarious how many people are willing to just work until they can't I guess without any thought at all about what then. Super conservatively I'd say half the jobs will be entirely gone in 20 years - liberally I'd say about 10. If there ever is another pandemic like thing - like next year even, it will happen then, that's the random variable.

In my life, the most susceptible people to automation were the most ardently against UBI

I don't think we are supposed to work. We should be creative yes, but not at a 9 to 5 for someone else bc we have to. I think the best iteration of humanity will be the one that immediately follows the end of work. First we will be bored and then I expect a boom in awesomeness all around - similar to what happened with the pandemic
