Ask HN: What side projects are you working on this year?
11 points by mbm on Jan 13, 2024 | hide | past | favorite | 10 comments

I'm building a bank comparison tool for people moving to Germany. The current tools are in German and don't serve the specific needs of immigrants, namely the ability to open an account at all with their available documents.

I have a few other projects lined up, all in support of the website I run for a living. I love making small tools to enhance text documentation, and I wish I had more time to devote to that.

Any links to those? (Just curious about them)

Check24 and Focus.de would be the most popular ones.

Awesome, what technologies are you using for the comparison tool?

VueJS, since it's what I use everywhere. I'm still at v2.7, but I'm not exactly splitting the atom here, so boring old technology is fine.

Definitely, use what works. Stability is a good thing.

Last week of 2023, I built an HN TLDR site that summarizes Hacker News articles into 3-5 sentences — just something to try my hands on OpenAI APIs.

I want to build more features and add support for any RSS feeds too.

Nothing to make money out of, but something for my personal use.

That’s awesome! How did you like working the OAI API?

Got a few always in progress
