I'm old but I guess I am learning this book is not read(or the movie not shown) in high school nowadays.

I'm in my mid-30s and read it when I was in middle school because I bought a beat up copy for $.50 at a used book sale. I was assigned "Animal Farm" a year or two later (which I didn't enjoy nearly as much because of a personal aversion to parables) but never "1984". This always struck me as odd.
