(2006) "I was shocked to finally use software by Joel, who's essays I'd been reading for years, and discover that it was terrible." Spolsky's writings have always seemed to me to be completely vapid and obvious, at best. To see what a great reputation he has among pointy-headed bosses and developers alike is a sad comment on the state of the industry. That his company writes crappy software should surprise no one.
