That's a really good way of characterizing the Foundation vs Bootstrap split.

At this stage, it just seems weird to start a new web project and not use at least some framework.

As to the difference in number of components - the Bootstrap ecosystem is massive -checkout:

I've been slowly collecting links for a similar Foundation list and it hasn't been going so well.
