According to http://www.fastcoexist.com/3037899/we-took-ikeas-new-automat..., it isn't being released just yet due to a production problem. It was on the IKEA website a few days ago, so they probably just took it off for now.

Is anyone else as confused by this explanation as I am?

What I don’t get is why they were even forced to stop selling the desks which were already being sold in the stores. It can’t be a logistic problem. And I was quite baffled by how useless the staff was. They had no clue why they were forced to return my money instead of handing over the desk they had in stock. It can’t get any worse once they are all replaced by robots, that’s for sure.

I assumed it meant something like, "we labelled part 'A' as part 'C', made 100,000 units, and now have to recall and re-label all of their part 'A's"

It's really strange because in Denmark it is really common to have height-adjustable tables in all the offices, but in London I haven't seen one.

I tried about a week ago, but I couldn't get past the shopping cart.

And it's not even listed on the Ikea Canada site.

I called two Ikeas in BC and according to them they're still waiting on an ETA for this desk.

I bought it a month ago in Montreal, last weekend we went back to Ikea and didn't see the table anymore. I'm very happy with this table.

Was there something wrong with the packaging or labelling? Apparently, that’s what they give as a reason why they’ve stopped selling the Bekant desk.
