I don't think the offensive part is necessarily the "scrubbing", but the lack of transparency. The post just disappeared with no notification or explanation. If I made a post and then subsequently received an email from Facebook or whoever saying "We have deemed your post inappropriate because ...; it has been removed," I would have a lot less of a problem with it than if it just disappeared without a trace.
